Make room to listen before solving
A little room to be heard can change the direction of a conversation.

Choose a moment when everyone has enough time to talk. Ask whether the other person wants you to listen, help think through options, or work on a next step together.
Reflect back what you heard in your own words and leave space for corrections. Understanding someone does not require agreement on every detail.
A simple starting point
- Ask one open question.
- Let the answer finish before responding.
- Agree on one shared priority.
General educational ideas to help you begin a conversation. For decisions about health, legal rights, or finances, speak with an appropriately qualified professional.
Pass a little peace along.
